The Enhanced Access and Extended Access programme enables patients convenient access  to healthcare services outside of core GP hours. Services can also be delivered to patients remotely, making access even easier compared to before.

In providing Enhanced Access and Extended Access services, GP surgeries, Primary Care Networks (PCNs) and GP Federations can offer more appointments in the evenings, at weekends or on public holidays (dependant on locality). This is a considerable help to patients who are unable to attend appointments during the typical workday.

Enhanced Access and Extended Access PCN DES can provide services including physiotherapy and mental health, as well as helping patients with acute illnesses, injuries in need of immediate attention, or with more routine medicines-related consultations.
